Manchester United left with striker crisis for Chelsea clash

Manchester United will face Chelsea in their FA Cup quarter-final clash without all four of their recognised strikers, according to reports.

BBC Journalist Simon Stone has confirmed on his personal Twitter account that Wayne Rooney will miss the game against Antonio Conte’s men after an accidental training ground collision with Phil Jones.

While the extent of the 31-year-old’s injury is not yet known, Stone claims that he will sit out of the tie against the Blues.

The injury comes after Zlatan Ibrahimovic was given a three-match suspension following his elbow on Tyrone Mings against Bournemouth.

And both Ibrahimovic and Rooney will be joined in the stands by their striking colleagues Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, although there is a rumour circulating that the latter could make a miracle recovery and feature.

The BBC report that Martial is set to miss out through an injury, while Rashford is suffering from illness and will not take part.
