Manchester United have made Alex Sandro their number one target for the January transfer window, according to reports.
The Juventus left-back was linked with a move to Chelsea over the summer with a deal looking close at one point, only for the transfer to never materialise.
Ashley Young has been playing the left wing-back role for Jose Mourinho so far this campaign and the Portuguese coach is keen to strengthen his options in that position.
The Daily Mirror claims that Mourinho will be given an ‘£80million war-chest’ in the winter transfer window and will reportedly spend some of that on a left-back.
Meanwhile, the Daily Record reports that Juve defender Sandro has become the Red Devils’ main target for January.
United trail Manchester City by eight points in the race for the Premier League title and the report suggests that United hope the signing of Sandro will boost their chances of catching their neighbours.
Luke Shaw and Matteo Darmian are the other possible defenders to fill in at left-back, while Tottenham defender Danny Rose has also been linked with a move to Old Trafford.
