Manchester United midfield target happy with future decision

Manchester United target Marco Verratti has pledged his future to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Italy midfielder has continually been linked with transfers to United and Barcelona, and last summer Barca are understood to have made a bid to land the 25-year-old.

Last month Don Balon claimed Jose Mourinho – who has made his intentions in strengthening United’s midfield clear this summer – told the club’s board to take advantage of PSG’s European misery by offering Verratti a summer switch to Old Trafford.

The Italian star is represented by Mino Raiola, who was instrumental in the deals that brought Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Manchester United in Mourinho’s first summer in charge.

Verratti though says he is happy in France with the Ligue 1 champions and insists he was right to reject Barca’s interest.

“I’m very happy with the choice I made and I’m all the more convinced of that now,” Verratti told Canal+.

“I really want to stay here. I feel very good here and I want to win, which is what everyone expects.”

Meanwhile, Verratti, who is under contract until 2021, wants Carlo Ancelotti to take the Azzurri job.

“I started playing in the Champions League with him. He really helped me a lot in terms of my head,” added Verratti.

“He helped me outside of football, and he is still an important man for me. We’ll see if he comes to Italy. I’d like him to take over the national team.”
