Manchester United: Matteo Darmian rated as the weakest link against PSV

Chris Smalling and Memphis Depay shone but Matteo Darmian struggled in Manchester United’s Champions League defeat to PSV, say the press.

Depay put United ahead in the 41st minute in Eindhoven on Tuesday night, but goals from Hector Moreno and Luciano Narsingh saw PSV come from behind to claim a 2-1 victory in a game overshadowed by the double leg fracture suffered by Luke Shaw.

Darmian was rated as United’s worst player in the defeat, with the Daily Mirror, Daily Mail and ESPN awarding him a mark of 5/10, while Juan Mata also got 5/10s from the Mail and ESPN FC.

Smalling and Depay, however, were awarded 7/10 across the board, with Shaw also rated highly after his promising start to the game was cut short.
