Maradona urges Napoli to sell Higuain and sign Kane
Argentina legend Diego Maradona wants Napoli to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham this summer.
Maradona is desperate for his former club to cash in on striker Gonzalo Higuain and replace him with England man Kane.
Higuain, 28, has blasted 30 goals in 32 Serie A matches this season, but Maradona has questioned whether the Argentina frontman can repeat this season’s form again next year.
The former Real Madrid man was believed to be on Chelsea’s radar in January and Maradona believes the Naples club will sell Higuain with his price tage set to come in around £40million.
“I know Aurelio De Laurentiis (the Napoli president), and I think he will sell Higuain,” Maradona told Piuenne TV.
“Higuain gave his best to Napoli, I don’t think he can repeat this kind of form. We already saw it happen with Ezequiel Lavezzi. With the money he will earn, he will have to build a great team.
“It’s not easy to replace Higuain, if it was up to me, I would choose Tottenham’s Harry Kane. I don’t know how much he costs, but I would sign him.”
Kane has blasted 30 goals in 55 matches for club and country this season and Manchester United are known to be keen on the £50m-rated striker.
The 22-year-old, who penned a new five-and-a-half-year contract in February 2015 is in line for a a new deal after blasting 24 Premier League goals this term on the back of 21 goals in the top flight last season.
The England international has held talks about improving the terms of his current contract, with Tottenham reportedly willing to improve his wages to around £70,000 a week.
