Juan Mata and Marcos Rojo have been given a chance to impress Jose Mourinho after being included in Manchester United’s 25-man squad to tour China this month.
The duo, who have been reportedly named as two of the four high-profile names Mourinho wants to ship out of the club, are included in the touring party, which also includes a number of stars who had been on Euro 2016 duty.
Mourinho’s 25-man squad also includes David De Gea, Wayne Rooney, Chris Smalling, Marcus Rashford and Paddy McNair, while Argentina’s Sergio Romero is also included.
United fly out to China on Tuesday afternoon for two games in the International Champions Cup against Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund.
James Wilson, Joel Pereira, Tyler Blackett, Guillermo Varela and most notably Bastian Schweinsteiger – who has recently got married to tennis star Ana Ivanovic – are among the players left out.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Morgan Schneiderlin and Anthony Martial are among those given extra recovery time following their exertions at the European Championship this summer.
Rashford told ManUtd.com he is looking forward to his first senior tour, having only broken into the United side for the first time in February before becoming a club regular and England international.
“It means a lot to be going,” he said. “It’s an opportunity to show the manager what you’ve got and you have to take the opportunity when it comes.
“It would be a massive experience especially with the players that could be going as well. I’ve got a lot I can learn from them.”
Borussia Dortmund are United’s first tour opponents in Shanghai on Friday, with the club then travelling to Beijing to play City on Monday.
