Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic could not hide his delight as the Premier League leaders booked their place in the FA Cup final following a thrilling 4-2 win over Tottenham.
Willian scored a free-kick to give the Blues an early lead but Spurs soon equalised with a deft header from striker Harry Kane.
The Brazilian re-established the advantage from the penalty spot after Son Heung-min hauled down Victor Moses to put the league leaders ahead at the break.
Dele Alli restored parity when he tapped in Christian Eriksen’s sublime pass, but Chelsea took the lead for a third time when substitute Eden Hazard fired into the bottom corner before Matic sealed the win with a stunning long-range effort.
Victory gives Chelsea the opportunity of a potential double for manager Antonio Conte in his first season at the club and Matic was very complimentary to the losing side, who also lie second in the league table.
He told BBC One: “It was a nice goal but, first of all, I want to say we are very happy because we are in the final.
“Congratulations to Spurs, they are a great team and it was very hard today. When you score four goals against them you have to win the game, so I’m very happy for the team.
“They are a great team. They are one of the best teams in the Premier League and, like I said, it was very hard today. We scored the first goal, they equalised, we scored the second and they didn’t give up.
“So congratulations to them. They played good football and that is why we are so happy today.”
Hazard added: “It is always good to win this game, this sort of game – a semi-final against a London team – so the following from the fans is good.
“We reached the final, which will be my first final in five years with Chelsea for the FA Cup, so I hope to win this cup.”
On his surprise place on the bench, the Belgian said: “The manager told me yesterday. In football you have to expect everything.
“When you play football you want to play every game but I think he made a great choice. Willian scored two goals so it is good for us.”
