McCarthy wants more arrivals

The Tractor Boys were beaten by East Anglia rivals Norwich in last season’s play-offs after finishing sixth, and have their sights set on another crack at promotion.

McCarthy has already moved to bring in the likes of Ainsley Maitland-Niles on loan from Arsenal and Brett Pitman from Bournemouth, who bought Town defender Tyrone Mings for £8million, while forward Daryl Murphy has signed a new two-year contract.

“We have got 15 or so hard-nosed professionals that I can hang my hat on and the two ‘keepers as well, so I am happy with the squad, but we are looking to add two or three more players,” McCarthy said to Ipswich Player.

“I am happier where I am now, going into this season than I was this time last year, but I would (still) like to add two or three new faces.”
