Barcelona players are reportedly demanding that the club signs Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho over Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil.
The Catalan giants spent the entire summer trying to persuade the Reds to part company with their star men but came up empty.
However, the Barca board are said to have once again made the Brazilian their top target in January, despite rumours that they had agreed terms to sign Ozil last week.
Spanish publication SPORT claims that Barca’s players, led by Messi, have made it clear to the club’s hierachy that they want Coutinho at the Nou Camp in the New Year, which could pave the way for Manchester United and new suitors Chelsea to land Ozil.
The Germany star is said to have been prepared as a back up option for Barcelona if they failed again with a move for Coutinho, who has reportedly agreed with Liverpool that he can move if an offer of £132million comes in.
Barca currently hold a four-point lead at the top of La Liga after a superb start to the new season, but they are not resting on their laurels and are keen to strengthen their squad for the second half of the campaign.
