Garry Monk was happy with Swansea’s performance during their 0-0 draw against Everton, who they are now “on par” with in the Premier League.
The Swans suffered their first league defeat of the season against Watford last weekend, but Monk was pleased to see the old Swansea return in a hard-fought affair at the Liberty Stadium.
“That was more us. We were at it,” said Monk.
“I spoke to them [Swansea’s players] to remind them that’s what we’re exactly about.
“I thought it was a night and day performance compared to last week.”
Monk also considered the bigger picture and where Swansea belong in the Premier League hierarchy, and believed that the Swans’ display is indicative of the progression made at the south Wales club.
“I think that was a good marker to see where we’re at,” he said.
“We more than matched them. I thought we were great.
“That shows how far we’ve come as a club, the fact we’re talking about Everton with all their history and the power they have in this league.
“For us to feel we’re on par and just as good as them shows how far we’ve come as a team.”
