Moore targets top-seven finish

Pools appeared to be heading for relegation at the turn of the year but turned around a 10-point gap to stay up and Moore has drafted in six new players already in a bid to avoid a repeat in the new campaign.

“Every manager dreams of being at the top end of the table in and around the play-offs and you realise that we can’t all be there,” Moore told the club’s official website.

“But it’s all about hitting your targets and trying to get the club where you feel it should be and achieving what it’s capable of.

“I don’t want to put too much pressure on the players or myself, but the play-offs has got to be our aim ahead of the season and if we work hard and stick together let’s hope we can achieve it.”

Moore, appointed boss in December, has signed Rakish Bingham (Mansfield), Rhys Oates (Barnsley), Carl Magnay (Grimsby), Harry Worley (Stevenage), Jake Carroll (Huddersfield) and Trevor Carson (Cheltenham) since the end of last season.

Marlon Harewood, Stuart Parnaby, Tommy Miller, Jack Compton, Jonny Maxted and Darren Holden have all been released.
