James McFadden, Iain Vigurs and John Sutton all return after missing the 1-0 defeat in the Europa League qualifier to Kuban Krasnodar in Russia.

Goalkeeper Lee Hollis is also expected start between the sticks despite Gunnar Nielsen’s penalty-saving debut in Russia.

Aberdeen make the trip to Lanarkshire looking to build on their opening day league success – just like their hosts.

Dons manager Derek McInnes has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the match.

Midfielder Barry Robson has been struggling with a slight knee knock but he has been passed fit to play in the match.

Motherwell have named an unchanged squad for the game.

Chris Humphrey went off with a calf problem in extra-time during Tuesday’s cup defeat by Hibernian but it was only cramp.

Shaun Hutchinson (ankle) and Steven Saunders (Achilles) remain on the sidelines.

Aberdeen will welcome back Youl Mawene and Rob Milsom.

Mawene (hamstring) and Milsom (knee) missed the midweek defeat by East Fife with minor injuries.

Aberdeen are still without Fraser Fyvie, who is on Scotland Under-19 duty, and Yoann Folly, who is building up his fitness after a broken leg.

Former Rangers full-back Maurice Ross could feature in Motherwell’s squad after signing a short-term deal.

Francis Jeffers hopes to overcome the tight hamstring that forced him off against Dundee United in midweek while Steven Saunders has returned to training following an ankle injury but may not be fit enough to play.

Midfielder Steve Jennings begins a three-match suspension.

Aberdeen full-back David McNamee (hamstring) is a major doubt.

Midfielders Ryan Jack (tonsilitis) and Paul Hartley (knee) are out and defender Zander Diamond is suspended.

Long-term injury victims Yoann Folly, Darren Mackie and Fraser Fyvie remain on the sidelines.
