Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed former AC Milan goalkeeper Marco Amelia is training at the club ahead of a possible short-term deal.
Mourinho is looking for some experience cover for Asmir Begovic with first-choice Thibaut Courtois out of action until Christmas with a knee problem.
The Bosnian Begovic is the only senior stopper currently on the Stamford Bridge books and Mourinho has moved to bring 33-year-old Amelia to Cobham to take a look at the free agent.
“We have at this moment Marco Amelia working with us,” said Mourinho of the former AC Milan goalkeeper, who is a free agent.
“What we need is some cover. We need some stability until Courtois is back. Maybe he’s the guy to give us that.”
