Mourinho ‘deserves time for huge rebuilding job at Man Utd’

Liverpool fans criticise the performances of Loris Karius for the Reds, while Jose Mourinho receives the backing of Manchester United supporters…

Fabregas branded a ‘coward’

So, the results are in: 4 game ban for Aguero, 3 for Fernandinho and zero for the sneaky cowardly faking whiney Cesc Fabregas!!

Is there a bigger coward in football? Slaps Fernandinho (who was trying to protect his teenage teammate in the scuffle) and as soon as Ferna reacts in a way befitting a man, cries to the referee before throwing himself over the advertising boards – pathetic and the law is an ass for letting him get away with it: what an example to set! Slap someone in the face, no problem – throw yourself to the floor and the other guy will be sent off (anyone remember Costa last season with his hand on Zabba’s throat? Yellow card!)

So this weekend kids – it’s fine to throw yourself to the floor with no contact to win a penalty (Dele Ali), it’s fine to kick a football at an opponent on the floor and shout abuse in his face (McClean), it’s fine to launch yourself two footed at an opponent (Rojo) and it’s fine to slap someone in the face and then cry Wolf (Fabregas)

Football reaches a new low for strength of character and dignity…

Karius the worst goalkeeper Liverpool have had

Loris Karius: Dropped a clanger for Bournemouth's fourth goal

I have watched the Reds since the Tommy Lawrence days and Loris Karius is the worst keeper to have ever played for Liverpool.

He would not get his place in any other Premier League or Championship sides for that matter.

What is Jurgen Klopp up to? Simon Mignolet must be besides himself having to play second to him. It has been obvious for weeks that Karius was going to cost us.

Karius hasn’t had one bad day he has had eight. He has not made a real save in any game, a decent shot results in a goal.

The only save he makes is to put his body in the way and hope the rebound favours him. Any clean sheets have been due to the defence in front of him. We escaped at Swansea. Mignolet has not made any mistakes in the games he has played this season. If Karius was in goal in the EFL we would have been out.

Redgee

It appears Simon Mignolet has been playing well after he was dropped to the bench, he no longer feels pressurised of being dropped even if a bad mistake is made.

If we reinstate him as number one after Karius had a bad day, does that help the confidence of both goalies? They would be playing under a lot of pressure not to make any mistakes.

Now what if the same old Mignolet returns after a few game and he makes a mistake, do we then reinstate Karius as number one?

Jose Mourinho: A defence

Jose Mourinho: Observes United training last week

Manchester United when they won the title in SAF’s last season were badly in need of rebuilding. Following that we had the appointments of Moyes and LVG and a very patchy recruitment policy.

As such, the problems from back then never got addressed.

This is probably Mourinho’s biggest challenge to date and it takes time to turn around a big liner like United that was heading in the wrong direction.

Like this article says, I don’t think United are far away from being able to challenge for a top 4 place and overall performances of late have been more promising.

Very premature imo to write off Mourinho and United just yet.

nine nine nine

The media have hounded and mocked Mourinho more than any other manager. Perhaps you’ve not noticed he and United are on the back of every paper all week round, such is the interest in the club. Then to say that he is not a great manager? What are you basing this on? His past exploits?

Mourinho hasn’t won the Premier League in 18 months. That’s less time than every manager (bar Ranieri) currently plying their trade in the league. He’s been four months at United. Klopp finished eighth with Liverpool last season and they are doing superbly now.

I agree, his substitutions are becoming a hindrance in the results and the players are not seeing out games, exemplified by Fellaini on Sunday but to write Mourinho off?

You clearly haven’t done your research either because if you had you’d of had better analysis. Along with this poor summary you’ve failed to mention Mouinho’s past exploits and draw any comparison or conclusions.

Conte delivering all that ‘that bloke from The Sun expected’

Antonio Conte: Manager faces tough weekend

Antonio Conte: A top manager coach bloke all rolled in. Hats off to the Chelsea board in securing his services before committing long term to Italy.

Also remember watching Sunday supplement end of last season when it was known conte was going to Chelsea, the Greek guy from the Sun who’s name escapes me actually stated that Chelsea had secured the best coach in the world and tipped us then to win the PL in his first season, he drew a few blank stares then from the rest of the panel, but his statement so far looking pretty good.

Happy days

Bluepylon

I’m just so impressed with Conte. Watching the Euro’s I started getting excited at the prospect of him managing Chelsea as it was pretty clear he could organise a side, and instill the discipline and belief required to build a winning side, and so it is proving to be the case.

I am sure other clubs supporters are all wishing he was in their dugout rather than ours. I feel we are very lucky to have him.

Someone have a word with diver, Dele Alli

Dele Alli: Appeals successfully for a penalty

I am a big fan of Dele Alli, but there can be no excuses for a dive like that from whoever you support.

It was cheating plain and simple and then the referee compounded his mistake by booking the keeper for protesting. You can’t take retrospective action now because it’s not in the rule book but it’s something that needs to be introduced.

It is the only way you will clamp this sort of behaviour out. It’s already been introduced in Scotland with some success and I would like to see it here throughout the divisions.

Unfair to criticise Wenger over Alexis

Alexis Sanchez: Stole the show

In response to the Monday Verdict…. Sanchez is not so much a CF in the classic sense he roams around the pitch all across the front 3 and often dropping deep too.

His positioning and movement is what makes him so good, Giroud the more classical CF who stay up top mainly in the centre and uses hi hold up link play and is the one in the box for crosses, Giroud had done well playing hear linking up play but now we have changed the system to go for a faster counter attacking style with more freedom to the front 3 to swap and move around making harder for defenders to pick up and mark….cheers

Steveosnakeeyes

I remember Wenger playing Sanchez up front in his 1st season with us against Beskitas at home in a CL qualifying game where he scored and we won 1-0. So its not as if it hadn’t been tried before.

But Amrit is 100% right when he says that it didn’t work before because we didn’t have anyone on the left to replace him.

Whilst its still true that the Ox remains largely inconsistent, at least we have Iwobi coming through who’ll likely make the position his own soon.

Alexis isn’t a centre forward anyway, a truer description of him can would be to describe him as a false nine.

His goals against west ham perfectly illstrate why he’s such a nuisance.

His 1st goal when he came deep to collect the ball, then turn and drive at the defenders before scoring.

His second where he lurks outside the box before the ball falls to him and he gets off a quick shot and scores.

And his 3rd, albeit offside, where he’s positioned on the shoulder of the last defender.

It is this variety to his game that makes him near on impossible to stop when he’s on song.

Man City v Celtic remains important

Bit of a dead duck game. But hopefully atmosphere will be good. Interesting to see who will start. If possible I would play some of the youngsters. We are going so hopefully it will be a good game.

ManCity Jim

It is important that City do not lose this game. So I don’t think we should pack the side with youngsters. I think Gunn should get a game and perhaps Maffeo at full back. I think Yaya should play so should Aguero. Garcia could also be given a chance. Come on City we’ve got to beat the Jocks…
