Luke Shaw: May be sold

Jose Mourinho is reportedly ready to offload defender Luke Shaw in the summer, having run out of patience with the player.

The Independent claim that Shaw will be put on the transfer list by Manchester United, with the 21-year-old having ‘run out of excuses’.

Mourinho has apparently become ‘frustrated’ by his lack of development and, would consider selling to rivals Chelsea and Spurs.

Shaw is yet to feature for United in all competitions since their 4-1 EFL Cup win over West Ham in November.

However, Mourinho suggested last month that while the left-back has room to grow, the club were committed to seeing him develop.

“The injury [to Shaw] is a pity,” Mourinho told MUTV.

“We were on this process of developing him as a player – he has a lot to learn and great potential to develop so we were giving him 90 minutes. Not consecutive matches but 90 minutes against Feyenoord then, one week later, 90 minutes against West Ham, but he got this little injury.”

These reports come amid reports that United have moved ahead of Napoli in the race to sign Monaco left-back Benjamin Mendy.

The 22-year-old has been one of the club’s star performers this season and his efforts have not gone unnoticed with Manchester United scouts making regular checks on the £25m-rated star.

Kieran Tierney of Celtic is another name who has been linked with the club, so Mourinho is possibly already in the market for replacements.
