Jose Mourinho has confirmed John Terry will return to skipper Chelsea in their Capital One Cup clash against Walsall on Wednesday.
Terry sat out the Premier Legaue win over Arsenal on Saturday having also being dropped from the side that beat Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Champions League last Wednesday.
Those two victories followed a run of three defeats in four games and Terry’s omission has led to speculation over the central defender’s status in Mourinho’s squad.
But the manager has confirmed Terry will return at Walsall, who will be spared the prospect of facing Diego Costa from the start.
“Yes, I (will) play (Radamel) Falcao. Diego goes on the bench,” said Mourinho.
When asked whether Terry will feature from the start, he added: “Sure, of course.”
Chelsea follow the trip to Walsall with a visit to winless Newcastle on Saturday evening.
