New Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is set to sanction the sale of defender Matteo Darmian to Juventus, according to reports in the Italian media.
The 26-year-old only signed for United last summer from Torino for a reported fee of £13million and endured a stop-start debut campaign at Old Trafford.
The right-back made 28 appearances for United last season, scoring a cracking goal against Crystal Palace back in April. Although he was utilised in a variety of positions, he was also seen as one of the few success stories at Old Trafford last season after a disappointing campaign for the club.
However, according to Tuttosport and as reported by Calciomercato, Darmian could find his time at Old Trafford coming to an end and is one of the players on his axed list as he bids to revamp the Manchester United squad.
Juventus are known admirers of the player and the report claims they’ll be actively encouraged to pursue a deal for the player, who is part of Italy’s squad at Euro 2016.
Darmian has also represented Italy at Under-17 level all the way up to the senior squad and it’s unlikely he’d dismiss the chance to return to his homeland with the Italian champions should the opportunity arise.
