Jose Mourinho will win the Premier League with Manchester United, according to one of his former players Dejan Stankovic.
Mourinho arrived last summer on a four-year deal on a reported £15million a year, with the option to cut ties with the club after three years.
The Portuguese boss was reportedly handed the task of getting United back into the Champions League, but with their home form stuttering United are in sixth, four points behind Man City in fourth.
Their ninth home draw of the campaign has left Mourinho with a worse win percentage at home than Louis van Gaal and David Moyes and if United do miss out on a place in next season’s Champions League then their home form will be to blame.
Stankovic though, who played for Mourinho at Inter Milan and won the Serie A, Champions League and Coppa Italia treble in 2009-10, has no doubts that Mourinho is up to the task.
Speaking exclusively to Omnisport, Stankovic said: “I am sure he can, and will [win the Premier League].
“He drives on success and he definitely will not settle for partial success, especially in a club with tradition such as United.
“Expect success because it is simply Mourinho.”
Stankovic, 38, who played for Mourinho for two years, says the 54-year-old’s “dedication” and “relations he makes with his players” sets him apart.
“It is really hard to say, since it is difficult to choose only one thing. There are many good things that make him special.
“He is fully dedicated to his work. He is focused on football and tactics. He knows how to bring out the best from a team in a physical and mental sense and makes good relations with players.
“Mourinho is simply special,” added Stankovic.
