Speculation regarding Manchester United’s managerial change has prompted over six million tweets since the final day of the season.
Jose Mourinho eventually replaced the sacked Louis van Gaal as Manchester United manager on Friday following months of speculation.
Twitter users have been gripped by the situation at Old Trafford, according to figures provided by the social media site.
Half a million tweets came in the hours following United’s confirmation of their new manager, with a peak of 6,200 tweets per minute as the news broke.
Those figures mean total Twitter conversation about the switch at Old Trafford topped six million in under two weeks.
