Mesut Ozil: Set up Aaron Ramsey for Arsenal's second goal at Aston Villa

David Moyes was mocked on Twitter on Sunday after suggesting prior to Arsenal’s win at Aston Villa that the “jury is still out” on Mesut Ozil.

Ozil has been in sensational form for Arsenal this season and went into the game at Villa Park with an incredible 12 assists from 14 appearances in the Premier League.

Moyes, however, has clearly not been paying attention to the German’s exploits, leading to much derision on Twitter.

Ozil impressed again at Villa Park and recorded yet another assist when he unselfishly set up Aaron Ramsey for a tap-in after being sent clean through by Theo Walcott.

The 27-year-old now has 22 games to claim the additional eight assists he requires to break Thierry Henry’s record of 20 in a Premier League season, set in 2002-03.

Ozil has almost double the amount of assists as his nearest Premier League competitor, Everton’s Gerard Deulofeu, and more than any other player in Europe’s major five leagues. He has also created more chances in total than any other player.

Ozil, however, was not the only player to impress for Arsenal on Saturday, with Petr Cech and Olivier Giroud reaching milestones, while Aaron Ramsey served another reminder that his best position is in central midfield.
