Glenn Murray: Has completed move to Bournemouth from Crystal Palace

Bournemouth have signed striker Glenn Murray from Crystal Palace for a fee reported to be in the region of £4million.

Murray has been a long-time Bournemouth target and finally completed the move to Dean Court on deadline day after putting pen to paper on a three-year contract.

Murray scored 47 goals in his 125 Palace appearances, including a monster haul of 31 during their promotion season of 2012/13.

Murray told Sky Sports: “It’s taken time getting here but I have finally got here on the last day (of the transfer window), so it’s fantastic.

“It has rumbled on for a quite a while and I am delighted to be down here.

“Obviously, I have spoken to the manager (Eddie Howe) and seen the way the team plays.  It just feels right.

“The manager showed the original interest and, after speaking to him, he won me over. I can’t wait to start working under him.

“It is well-documented that Bournemouth like to play football. I think I can give them a slightly different dimension when the ball goes into the box.”

Asked if he thinks Bournemouth can retain their top flight status, Murray added: “It’s a big challenge and definitely a challenge I am looking forward to, and one we can achieve together.”

Having spent time at Carlisle, Rochdale and Brighton, Murray joined Crystal Palace on a free transfer in 2011.

He was loaned to Reading for part of last season, scoring eight times in 18 appearances.

Meanwhile, Cherries forward Max Gradel, who signed from Saint Etienne last month, faces a lengthy spell out with a knee injury sustained against Leicester on Saturday.
