Yann M’Vila claims Sunderland failed to answer his phone calls on Deadline Day as he tried to push through a late move to the Black Cats.
The 26-year-old Frenchman featured 37 times for Sunderland last season after joining on loan from Rubin Kazan, but he was ultimately unable to seal a permanent transfer to Wearside over the course of the summer transfer window.
M’Vila wrote a message on Instagram, which has since been deleted, to suggest he tried his best to seal a return to the club: ‘I called Sunderland but they are not picking up the phone. Why? My heart has broken.’
The Sunderland Echo believe that David Moyes and the Sunderland heirachy simply ran out of time to conclude a deal and will try their luck again in January.
