Neil coy over Bamford loan rumours

Reports emerged yesterday that the Premier League newcomers have opened talks with Chelsea over a potential loan move for the striker, who scored 17 goals at Championship Middlesbrough last season.

The Daily Mail claim Bamford has been earmarked by Norwich as a key target to strengthen their attack, with the 21-year-old having scored once in three appearances against the Canaries last season.

While the play-off winners continue to push for a deal to sign Robbie Brady from Hull, they will reportedly battle Newcastle to secure Bamford’s services on a season-long loan deal, with Chelsea keen for him to gain some top-flight experience.

But former Hamilton boss Neil remained coy on the rumours, while promising fans the club are working hard behind the scenes to complete transfers.

“There’s just names flung about everywhere, so no, you won’t hear anything come from us until it’s done,” Neil told BBC Radio Norfolk concerning the Bamford speculation.

“We’re trying our best, you know we’re doing everything we can, and obviously a lot of it isn’t in our hands which is the problem.

“We just need to bide our time and continue to work hard and hopefully we can get a few across the line soon.”
