Roy Beukenkamp: To scout Netherlands for United

Manchester United have appointed former goalkeeper Roy Beukenkamp to be their Dutch scout as part of an overhaul of their system.

Beukenkamp has worked for PSV Eindhoven for a year and was central to their purchase of Bart Ramselaar, a key member of the PSV side at just 20.

“It was quite a difficult choice,” Beukenkamp told Voetbal International. “I was very comfortable in my work with PSV.

“This is an opportunity that might never come (again). I start immediately.”

Since retiring from football, Beukenkamp has been involved in scouting, and his first role was with FC Twente.

Voetbal International claims that his appointment by United is a step in the direction of giving international scouts more power rather than relying purely on the manager’s judgement.
