A host of English clubs, including Newcastle and Leicester, are weighing up moves for highly-rated New York Red Bulls defender Kemar Lawrence, sources have told TEAMtalk.

Lawrence has been earning rave reviews for clubs and country during the last year with his stellar displays alerting interest from abroad.

The 23-year-old joined New York Red Bulls in the MLS in March after impressing on trial from Harbour View FC in his native Jamaica and he has quickly established himself as a key player in the side.

Lawrence made 23 appearances for New York Red Bulls as he helped them reach the Eastern Conference Championship final before losing to Columbus Crew.

However, it was on the international stage with Jamaica where Lawrence really caught the eye impressing in the Copa America with a memorable performance against Argentine superstar Lionel Messi.

Lawrence also played an instrumental role in helping Jamaica reach the Gold Cup final and his progress has brought him to the attention of several teams in England.

Newcastle were linked with a move for Lawrence in the summer and they are thought to be continuing to keep tabs on the full-back’s progress.

Current Premier League leaders Leicester City and Championship side Reading are thought to be admirers of Lawrence and have had him watched as they weigh up moves for the defender in January.
