Newcastle United are reportedly keeping tabs on summer target Pierre-Michel Lasogga amid claims they could make a January move for the Hamburg striker.
The Magpies were linked with a move for the 23-year-old over the summer and had reportedly made him their top priority had they finalised the sale of Papiss Cisse. They could still have signed up the striker, but were put off by the Bundesliga side’s initial £9million valuation of the German.
However, Newcastle could revive their interest in Lasogga when the January transfer window opens and their scouts will continue to monitor his progress.
Lasogga, who has represented the Germany Under-21s side 11 times, joined Hamburger SV on a five-year deal in the summer of 2014 following a successful year-long loan spell at Volksparkstadion.
He struggled to match the exploits of his loan spell, though, scoring just four times in 24 appearances last season.
So far this season, Lasogga has scored one goal and created two chances in three Bundesliga games for Hamburg.
