Cesc Fabregas was the best and just about the worst player on show in Chelsea’s draw with Newcastle on Saturday, according to the media.
The Spain playmaker, was unbelievably, the Sun’s Dream Team star man with and 8 out of 10 display in the 2-2 draw at St James’ Park. Despite losing Georginio Wijnaldum for Newcastle’s second goal and generally having an off day, The Sun – driven by Opta stats – claimed he was the pick of the bunch with an 83 per cent passing accuracy – really?
The Daily Mail were more on the mark with a score of 4.5, but they weren’t too keen on Eden Hazard’s display and gave the Belgian a 5/10 score. Hazard certainly wasn’t back to last season’s best, but he was better than that and his average of 6.5 seems about right.
The media did however agree with Nemanja Matic’s woeful showing with and average of just 4.75, while Newcastle’s Ayoze Perez was the pick for the hosts with an average of 8/10.
