Newcastle teenagers Alex Gilliead and Macaulay Gillesphey have joined Carlisle on loan – and could make their debuts in Saturday’s League Two clash at York.
Winger Gilliead and defender Gillesphey, both 19, have signed 28-day youth loan deals – they will stay at Brunton Park until October 11 – and could make their debuts this weekend.
Gilliead, yet to make a first-team appearance at Newcastle but an unused substitute at Leicester in the FA Cup last season, was included in the England Under-20s squad for the two games against Czech Republic earlier this month.
Left-sided Gillesphey, comfortable at either centre-back or full-back, signed his first professional contract with Newcastle in July and has made three appearances for the Under-21s.
