Oumar Niasse: Set to join Everton from Lokomotiv Moscow

Everton are edging closer to the deadline day signing of Oumar Niasse after the Lokomotiv Moscow striker arrived on Merseyside for a medical.

The Toffees have had a bid, believed to be £13.5million, accepted for the 25-year-old Senegal international, who is currently at the club’s Finch Farm training ground to discuss personal terms and have his physical examination.

Niasse has scored 12 goals in 21 Russian Premier League matches this season and would come in as a replacement for Steven Naismith, who was sold to Norwich for £8.5million earlier in the window.

Niasse is likely to be the only player arriving before the window closes, although winger Aiden McGeady looks set to leave on loan for Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.

However, Republic of Ireland midfielder Darron Gibson seems set to stay for the remainder of the season despite manager Roberto Martinez previously suggesting the player would benefit from a loan to get some much-needed pitch time ahead of this summer’s Euro 2016.
