Adama Traore: Struggled with injury at Villa Park

Barcelona have reportedly made it clear they have no intention of re-signing Adama Traore, who could be set to become Aston Villa’s highest earner.

Traore moved to Villa Park in the summer when Tim Sherwood fended off interest from Stoke and Liverpool to secure the services of the 19-year-old for £7million.

But the Barca academy graduate has failed to make an impact, with Villa struggling at the foot of the Premier League and Sherwood replaced by Remi Garde.

The new boss said last week that Traore was making progress but needs to think more about “collective football”.

The attacker is said to be on £40,000 a week but he deal he signed means he could quickly become Villa’s highest earner on £75,000 a week.

Barca often place buy-back or first-refusal clauses in deals when they sell young players, as they did when selling Gerard Deulofeu to Everton this summer.

But The Mirror reports that Barcelona have no such option and have made it clear they are not interested in bringing their former schoolboy forward back to the Nou Camp.

who is responsible for these outrageous deals ?? insane , or some other agenda ?

delph gone for 8m , benteke for 32m ( he is worth twice that) and now a possibly worthless teenager becoming highest earner !! .

what does that do for squad morale .

The Traore deal is bizzare I agree jackdaw but the other two are very different.

Delph would not have signed that contract last January without a clause, im sure we wanted more but the negotiations left us with £8million, £2 mil more than we paid for him.. I hate the way Delph left but not many players would have ensured a club would get a pay out if they left.. I cant think of any other example.. he could have left for free don’t forget

With Beneteke that deal was put in place less than 12 montsh after we paid £7million for him.. im sure his agent negotiated this fee, and at the time he seemed fair

Let’s be honest the entire summer transfer window was bizarre. A net spend of 8m on predominately unknown young foreign players and a Championship striker who was never going to fill Benteke’s boots. Baker out on loan and Lescott in? Cissohko and Cole out on loan when experience is needed? The Traore deal doesn’t make any financial sense, if the lad was that good Chelsea, UTD or man City would have been sniffing around and who on earth sanctioned 75k a week! The club has become a laughing stock and Lerner just hides in America without a care, let’s be honest when you’re a billionaire his investment in Villa over the last 8 years has been small change. Is he really that bothered.

Please can TT stop tryinT to engineer conversations. Its pushes down converstaions that actual users have posted and creates too many posts. We don’t need TT to copy and paste the article headline into a new Conversation. I know you are trying to generate interest but its making it harder and harder to keep up to date will all the posts and adding additional ones for the sake of it will mean the few of us that are using it post your non communicated changes will also drop off.

Agreed Jim. I wanted to make a post on the “general football” forum but it’s all just the articles from the main page. It would get totally lost meaning I actually have nowhere to post it!
