Barcelona have reportedly made it clear they have no intention of re-signing Adama Traore, who could be set to become Aston Villa’s highest earner.
Traore moved to Villa Park in the summer when Tim Sherwood fended off interest from Stoke and Liverpool to secure the services of the 19-year-old for £7million.
But the Barca academy graduate has failed to make an impact, with Villa struggling at the foot of the Premier League and Sherwood replaced by Remi Garde.
The new boss said last week that Traore was making progress but needs to think more about “collective football”.
The attacker is said to be on £40,000 a week but he deal he signed means he could quickly become Villa’s highest earner on £75,000 a week.
Barca often place buy-back or first-refusal clauses in deals when they sell young players, as they did when selling Gerard Deulofeu to Everton this summer.
But The Mirror reports that Barcelona have no such option and have made it clear they are not interested in bringing their former schoolboy forward back to the Nou Camp.
