Schweinsteiger is one of a number of players reported to be on Louis van Gaal’s list of potential midfield targets this summer, but the Premier League club are yet to make contract with Bayern, according to CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
Asked if the Bundesliga champions had held talks with United over the 30-year-old, Rummenigge told Sport Bild magazine: “No. I do not know if there is any truth there.
“In our view, however, it’s clear: We would only consider a change if Bastian came to us with a specific request. That is not the case.”
Despite being linked to the likes of Paul Pogba, Rummenigge also insisted Bayern will not be bidding huge sums for players this summer.
“Bayern Munich are definitely not going to buy any player for 100 million euros,” he said.
“The fact is we do want quality and we will do certain things. But the transfer window has only just opened and we already have a high-quality squad.
“Of course the coach is involved intensively in all our [transfer] considerations. At the end of the day, it is he who has to work with the players.”
