James Rodriguez does not want to return to Real Madrid unless Jose Mourinho is reinstalled as their boss, according to a report.
The ‘ever-reliable’ Spanish source Don Balon claim the Colombia midfielder, who is on loan with Bundesliga club Bayern Munich, does not expect to return to Real in the summer.
The report suggests that a move back to Madrid will only happen if Mourinho leaves United and rejoins at the Bernabeu, which is the longest of long shots.
Don Balon recently claimed that Liverpool officials had contacted the representatives of the 26-year-old, who was mentioned as a target for a host of Premier League clubs in the summer
Rodriguez’s sponsors Adidas were believed to be prepared to help fund any potential transfer of the player in the summer.
Super agent Jorge Mendes was understood to be working on a move to the Premier League and had connected his close friend Mourinho over a deal for the player.
That led Mendes to punt the player to Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal in a bid to secure him a high-profile move to England.
And Adidas – the player’s kit sponsor – were committed to paying 20% of his wages if he moves to the Premier League, claimed the Daily Mirror.
Rodriguez though, who is under contract until June 2019, moved on a season-long loan to Bayern and has hit three goals and seven assists for the German club.
