Arsenal target Granit Xhaka has revealed that he has received no firm offers, cooling rumours of an exit from Borussia Monchengladbach.
The Swiss international has been a long-term target for the Gunners, with Arsenal first being linked with a Janaury move for the player.
The former Basel players has appeared in 35 matches for the Fohlenelf in all competitions this campaign, scoring three times.
Xhaka spoke after his side defeated Bayer Leverkusen 2-1, ensuring they will be in the Champions League qualifying process in August.
“What happens is not entirely down to me. I can only say that I am really happy here, and my contract runs through to 2020,” the midfielder said. “Until today, no offer has been made.
“To be honest, I didn’t think about it in the past weeks. And I believe you could see that on the pitch,” Xhaka added. “Should something come up, we’d possibly sit down and decide what happens. And if nothing comes up, everything fits here at Borussia.”
German outlet Sport1 are reporting that despite these comments, everything is already in place for the 23-year-old to move to North London.
Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl stated the club would not give up their star man easily, but admitted it is difficult given the calibre of teams interested.
“We will fight for Granit,” he told kicker on Monday, adding: “There are clubs how can offer an even bigger chance of playing Champions League and competing for titles and trophies.”
