Oldham goalkeeper Joel Coleman’s agent has described it as “flattering” that Aston Villa have been keeping an eye on his client this season.
Coleman only broke into the Oldham team at the end of last season after working his way through the ranks at Boundary Park, but the 20-year-old has started the new campaign as Latics’ undisputed number one, keeping two clean sheets in seven games.
Aston Villa scout Tony Coton is said to be among several spies from Premier League clubs to have watched Coleman in action, but for now he is focused on continuing to improve, according to his agent.
“It would be no surprise that other clubs are looking at Joel as he has been superb for Oldham since coming into the side,” Clive Hart told ESPN FC. “Joel is enjoying his football at Oldham and is happy to be playing so he can continue his development.
“It is flattering to be linked with top clubs, but Joel is focused on doing his best for Oldham and we will see what happens regards his long-term future.”
