Next time you’re at a festival, take a closer look at the guy in a hat and hoodie moshing next to you. It could be an Arsenal superstar in disguise.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has revealed he has been going to rock festivals incognito, to enjoy metal bands such as Good Charlotte and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
In an exclusive interview with kicca.com, the winger said: “I went to Reading, watching Red Hot Chili Peppers. They were the reason we all went.”
But Oxlade-Chamberlain eventually left the veteran rockers’ main stage show to catch Stormzy headlining the festival’s nearby smaller 1Xtra tent.
He recalled: “I was looking at my watch, because I knew Stormzy was on, so I took a few of the boys. He was brilliant. I was trying to keep a low profile, with my hood up and hat on, as I didn’t want to get too noticed in there.”
Some of the player’s friends got involved in the 1Xtra tent’s moshpit, but Oxlade-Chamberlain didn’t want to risk getting injured.
He said: “Some of the lads got straight in the middle of the moshpit, but I had to hang a bit more round the edges. It was the first time I’d seen Stormzy perform live, and it was unbelievable.”
