Arsene Wenger has declared that Mesut Ozil’s recent comments over his new contract discussions have been “misinterpreted”.
The German international had insisted that he feels happy at the club, but mentioned recently that his future at the Emirates was dependent on the club’s plans for manager Wenger.
However, during his pre-match press conference on Friday morning, the Gunner’s boss declared that the quotes had been taken out of context.
“I think he has been a bit misinterpreted. I don’t think that is the main part of his decision,” the Frenchman said.
“We always speak, I speak more with his agent on the contract than with him.
“Let’s not forget all these players have 18 months to go, that is a long time in football. I’m very relaxed”.
Wenger also channeled Donald Trump when quizzed about Arsenal’s interest in Torino’s Andrea Belotti.
