Mesut Ozil was sent home from training on Wednesday by an Arsenal club doctor due to illness and faces a race against time to be fit for the Premier League clash with Liverpool on Saturday, according to reports.
Goal claims that the Germany international did not take part in training on Wednesday after being advised to give his body a rest and was sent home with flu-like symptoms.
Ozil reported for training following a team bonding exercise at Bloomsbury Bowling on the Tuesday evening but was told he shouldn’t participate in training.
The 28-year-old has come under-fire at times this season for his apparent laid-back approach on the pitch and his display against Bayern Munich in February was particularly criticised.
Arsenal sit in fourth place in the Premier League table and will be looking to pull away from Jurgen Klopp’s men, who are fifth and one point behind them.
