Mesut Ozil: Linked with unlikely Man Utd move

Mesut Ozil may be the subject of a shock move away from the Emirates Stadium, with the Arsenal star being linked with an unlikely move to Premier League rivals Manchester United.

According to Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, Ozil may be willing to say goodbye to Arsenal and join United this summer should Jose Mourinho take charge.

Mourinho remains confident of being manager at Old Trafford next season, and he wants to bring the German international to Old Trafford, re-uniting the pair after they were together at Real Madrid.

TMW go on to state, however, that Arsenal are ready to fight tooth and nail to keep the player and would be unwilling to sell him to one of their rivals.

The 27-year-old revealed earlier this month that he is more than happy with life in North London.

“I am under contract with Arsenal and I am very happy to be here now,” he said. “I do not think about the future, I just think my current situation.

“I have goals for Arsenal. In the future you can never know in football.”

He did however express a desire to work under Real boss Zinedine Zidane at some point.

“Of course! I get along very well with him, either as an individual or as a manager. But in football you do not know what tomorrow will bring, everything is possible. You never know what will happen.”

Ozil’s relationship with manager Arsene Wenger was called into question, amidst reports that the 18-assist man may not extend his contract.

“The English media put it somewhat differently, but my relationship with Arsene Wenger is very, very good and we speak about things, so we cleared that up very quickly.

“He knows what kind of a player I am and how I present myself in public.

“I always stand by the team and he knows that and that is what we spoke about and it was a very quick thing.”
