Palace chief expects to miss out on Austin

Austin is reported to be a target for clubs including Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Newcastle and West Ham this summer, and Parish has admitted he is not confident of Palace landing a player that scored 18 goals for relegated Rangers last season.

“Charlie is definitely a player we admire but there are lots of clubs interested in him,” Parish told talkSPORT. “There’s a good chance he will go beyond us, so to speak.”

There could be business done between Palace and QPR even if Austin does not head for Selhust Park, with R’s boss Chris Ramsey confirming the club are in talks to sign Adlene Guedioura from the Eagles.

“We need to add to the squad still and we’re working hard to do so,” Ramsey also told the QPR website.

“Les (Ferdinand) and the Board know what we require and they’re in constant dialogue to try and get some deals over the line.”
