The 29-year-old France international, who featured in their 4-3 defeat to Belgium on Sunday, has struggled to hold down a first-team place at the Ligue 1 champions.

He made just 13 league starts last term and has just 22 to his name overall since joining from Newcastle, where he first worked with Pardew for three years, in January 2014.

Speaking whilst on current international duty, Cabaye told a French newspaper: “It went very well with him [last time].

“If I have to make that decision, it will be a pleasure to see my old coach. I enjoy it with him and he does a great job.

“I am in a situation today where I am not getting the game time that I was hoping for. The important thing is that I will think carefully and make the best decision. We will see how it evolves in the coming weeks.”

According to reports, Crystal Palace hold an interest in Cabaye along with a number of other Premier League clubs including Arsenal.

Cabaye began his career at Lille before a £4.4million switch to Newcastle in 2011. Newcastle then sold him for £19million 18 months ago.
