Man City are in talks over a £60million move for Virgil van Dijk, while Liverpool have been given the green light to sign a Lazio man and Julian Draxler’s price tag is set, all in the Boxing Day papers.
CITY TO GET VAN DIJK, LIVERPOOL CHASE DE VRIJ
With Man City closing in on a deal for top Liverpool target Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool will be forced to switch targets.
The Daily Telegraph claims City are in talks with Southampton over a £60million move for Van Dijk, meaning Liverpool will have to look elsewhere.
And Lazio defender Stefan De Vrij may well be Jurgen Klopp’s man now.
The 25-year-old has been told he can leave Rome during the January transfer window, according to the Daily Mirror.
Lazio chiefs will sanction the sale of the Dutchman if someone meets their valuation.
The Italian outfit have done everything in their power to try and keep the Dutch centre-back, offering him a €3million-a-year contract to remain in Rome.
But according to a recent report on Tuttosport, De Vrij has his heart set on a move to England and Liverpool in particular.
The main stumbling block over a potential new Lazio contract has been that his representatives wanted a €20million release clause inserted in the deal, something that the Serie A club were not keen on.
Reports of a new three-year contract, worth just over £50,000-a-week, with a £27million release clause, have never been confirmed and his existing deal expires next summer
