Arsenal could beat Barcelona to the signing of two Ajax stars, on one condition, while Luke Shaw fears that his Manchester United career may be over, according to Thursday’s newspapers.
ARSENAL EYEING DOUBLE AJAX DEAL
Arsenal could complete a double swoop of Ajax’s top two stars, Kasper Dolberg and Matthijs de Ligt, if they appoint Marc Overmars as their new sporting director
Overmars is one of a number of candidates supposedly being eyed to take over from Richard Law at The Emirates.
Arsene Wenger has usually had the last word over new signings at Arsenal and the appointment of former Gunners winger Overmars could see the boss scout out Ajax players.
And the Daily Express (via Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo) claims that main suitors Barcelona will miss out on the duo if Overmars gets the job.
Dolberg has emerged as one of the hottest young talents in European football, having played a key role as Ajax reached the Europa League final last season.
And 18-year-old De Ligt is already being tipped as one for the future in the Dutch national side.
