Paper Talk: Liverpool target set for £65m move to rivals; Ozil swap deal

Barcelona are ready to offer one of their first-team regulars in a bid to land Mesut Ozil, while Manchester City are set to rival Liverpool for a defender, all in Monday’s papers.

BARCA KEEN ON SWAP DEAL FOR ARSENAL ACE

Barcelona are strongly considering a January move for Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil and and could offer Andre Gomes in part exchange.

Ozil is out of contract in the summer and is expected to attract interest from Barca and Manchester United in the New Year as the Gunners look to cash in on one of their top stars rather than lose him for nothing.

Arsenal have been criticised in the past for selling their top stars to Premier League rivals and it is thought that they would prefer to do business with the Catalan giants, particularly if they get a player in part-exchange.

Portugal international Gomes has been a regular for Ernesto Valverde’s men this season, despite being heavily linked with a move to Tottenham on transfer deadline over the summer.

Barca have turned their attentions to Ozil after being put off by Liverpool’s asking price for Philippe Coutinho and believe they can land the German for a fee of around £20million, plus 24-year-old Gomes, according to the report on the Daily Star.
