Daniel Sturridge: Hoping to bring up a century of goals for the Reds

French money-bags PSG have been linked with a £50million move for Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge and have Manchester United made the biggest hint yet that Louis van Gaal’s time is up?

French champions Paris St-Germain are lining up a £50million move for Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge, according to The Sun.

The tabloid believes Sturridge is “considering his future” at Anfield and PSG have him on their shopping lost with Edinson Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic expected to leave in the summer.

Cavani has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, while Swedish star Ibrahimovic is out of contract, and while he has also been linked with a move to England, the 34-year-old looks set to head to China.

The French club are “sending a delegation” to London on Tuesday to watch the England striker in action at Wembley against Holland.

The 26-year-old, who only last season signed a new five-year contract worth £150,000 a week, was criticised by Jurgen Klopp while he was out injured with a foot problem in November.

Klopp said: “Your body has to learn to adapt to new intensities of training and in this time you have to learn what is serious pain and what is only pain.”

But the German coach last month declared he wanted to keep Sturridge.

“[Daniel] is a really good footballer and now he is able to play which is what we want to see all the time. A few things are clearer now – his future. You can stop thinking about this,” Klopp said.

Still, Sturridge is believed to be ready to look elsewhere in the summer and Klopp has made it clear he will not keep any unhappy players in his squad.

Manchester United have published a video to promote their summer tour of China without boss Louis Van Gaal featuring.

The Manchester Evening News report that the 48-second clip features 14 first-team players including Wayne Rooney, David De Gea and Marcus Rashford, but there is no sign of the Dutchman – a fact which the local paper describes as “just plain odd”.

Van Gaal has a year to run on his United deal and he is still the face of the team despite increasing criticism of his and his style of play. The club have never commented on Van Gaal’s future or made reference to the other main contenders for his job – Jose Mourinho and Ryan Giggs – but this could well be a hint that Van Gaal’s time has run its course.

Of course, his omission in the footage could be an oversight, but it’s a pretty big one at that, especially when he consider last season’s video of the tour of the US featured the imposing Dutchman heavily.
