Jose Mourinho targets two Real Madrid men in swap for Man Utd’s David de Gea, while another Premier League club, bar United, are serious about Antoine Griezmann, all in the Saturday’s papers.
MOURINHO WANTS REAL MADRID SWAP
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho will ask Real Madrid for Raphael Varane and Alvaro Morata in exchange for David De Gea, according to an exclusive on Saturday.
Mourinho will play “hardball” with his old club this summer in a bid to get as much as he can from the La Liga giants.
Real are believed to be desperate to secure the signing of De Gea this summer and they are willing to pay as much as £60million to get hold of the 26-year-old.
They almost landed the former Atletico keeper two years ago for £30million, but the deal fell through on transfer deadline day when a dodgy fax machine was blamed for De Gea staying at Old Trafford.
And last summer Real did not activate a £30million get-out clause in De Gea’s, which expired in June 2016,
Now The Sun report Mourinho will ask for Morata, 24, and Varane, 23, with the aim of getting “at least one player thrown into the bargain”.
The prospect of landing former Juve striker Morata is a more real one than that of landing Varane, who is rated very highly in Madrid.
CITY CHASE GRIEZMANN
Manchester City have placed Manchester United target Antoine Griezmann at the top of their summer wanted list, according to a report.
Pep Guardiola wants the France international to team up with Gabriel Jesus with the future of Sergio Aguero in doubt, report the Daily Mail.
United are rumoured to be in pursuit of Griezmann, 26, who has been guarded over his future after a penning a new deal last June that runs until 2021.
Griezmann is believed to have a €100million buyout in his Atletico Madrid contract but that will not put off either of the two Manchester clubs or Chelsea, who are also rumoured to have an interest in the striker.
There is very little substance to the latest report, but if City do lose Aguero in the summer then they will no doubt spend big to bring in a replacement.
Griezmann has scored 26 goals in 50 games for club and country this season.
