Manchester United are plotting a £62m bid for Gonzalo Higuain and also want William Carvalho, while Wilfried Zaha is a shock £15m target for a club in China, according to Wednesday’s newspaper gossip.
UNITED TARGET HIGUAIN SWOOP…
Manchester United are set to make a £62.2million offer to land Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain, according to reports.
Higuain has been strongly linked with Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool in the last week amid talk he’s set to quit Napoli over the summer.
And now Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport says United have joined the race and are set to lodge a £62.2m offer for the Argentine.
The paper quotes a trusted United source for the information and says Jose Mourinho is the driving force behind the deal.
Higuain is stalling on a new contract at Napoli and it seems they could cash in on him this summer with good money on the table.
…AND WILL RIVAL ARSENAL FOR CARVALHO
Manchester United are looking to strengthen their squad with a summer move for Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho.
Carvalho is one of the most sought-after young players in European football, and has been heavily influential in Sporting’s rise to the top of the Portuguese table this season.
The 23-year-old was rewarded for his good form with a new contract in February, which now includes a £35million buy-out clause.
But despite his new deal Italian news outlet Tuttomercatoweb claim United are preparing a £27m bid for Carvalho in the summer.
Sporting are likely to decline the offer and hold out until the Portuguese international’s release clause is met.
Carvalho has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League.
Arsenal were linked with a move for the 23-year-old last summer, and the player has repeatedly expressed his admiration for the Gunners.
Liverpool have also been linked with a move for Carvalho, as Jurgen Klopp looks to re-build his Reds squad.
The midfielder, who is represented by high-profile agent Jorge Mendes, has 15 international caps for Portugal.
PALACE WINGER ZAHA WANTED IN CHINA
Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha is a shock £15m target for Chinese club Beijing Guoan, according to an exclusive in The Sun.
China’s Super League is awash with money and this is the first time they have moved for a young English player.
Zaha’s representatives were approached about a possible move in the last transfer window – and Beijing insisted they would look to make a firm offer this summer.
Winger Zaha, 23, rejoined Palace a year ago from Manchester United for £3m after a troubled £15m switch to Old Trafford.
Beijing have already failed to land former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers as their manager.
Anfield striker Christian Benteke has also been targeted by Chinese clubs.
