Sam Allardyce is so angry with Wilfried Zaha that he could sell him, plus news of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Marcos Rojo, all in today’s papers.
LIVERPOOL TARGET ARSENAL’S OX
Liverpool are monitoring the availability of Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, according to reports.
The Guardian and Daily Telegraph claim that the 23-year-old is on the radar of Jurgen Klopp, who will be without Sadio Mane for a month in January due to the African Cup of Nations.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has scored six goals, and provided six assists for Arsenal this season, but he is yet to complete 90 minutes – a fact which is understood to have irked the England international.
Liverpool are aware that attempting to sign a player from one of their title rivals will be difficult and the recent bad blood between the clubs makes their task even more difficult.
Liverpool were incensed that Arsenal bid £40million plus £1 for Luis Suarez three and a half years ago and earlier this month, according to Football Leaks Roberto Firmino has an £82million release clause in his contract at Anfield which can be activated by any club in the world – other than the Gunners.
So relations between the clubs have not been repaired and and prospective deal will need hammering out.
But their is “interest” from Liverpool and Arsenal were open to selling the 23-year-old in the summer. He has 18 months left on his contract and extension talks have not been forthcoming.
The price tag will be in excess of £20million; this could be an interesting one…
VALENCIA BID FOR ROJO
Valencia have launched a bid for Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo, claims a report.
Tribal Football report: “Los Che sports chief Suso Pitarch Garcia was in England last week for talks with United over a price for the Argentine.
“Valencia hope to do business for €16million, though Rojo will take some persuading.”
Not only will Rojo take some persuading, Jose Mourinho will too with the defender starting to find his feet this season after making 10 appearances.
Rojo has found himself in the first-team picture this season and unlikely to move on in January.
