Liverpool are preparing a £20million move for a striker on Manchester United’s radar, while Anthony Martial is a top target for Paris Saint-Germain, all in today’s papers.
LIVERPOOL LOCK ON TO £20M STRIKER
Liverpool are preparing a January transfer bid for Celtic forward Moussa Dembele, according to a report.
Glasgow Live say that Jurgen Klopp is ready to offer ex-Reds boss Brendan Rodgers £10million up front with another £10million in add-ons for the youngster.
Klopp is determined to strengthen his striking options next month with Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge injured and Sadio Mane away at the African Cup of Nations.
The report claims Klopp has sent scouts to watch Dembele five times and all the feedback has been glowing with the former Fulham star already netting 17 times for the Hoops since joining last summer.
Liverpool are also willing to pay the 20-year-old around £60,000 a week to move to Anfield – a large increase on the £15,000 a week he currently earns at Parkhead.
Manchester United were linked with a move for the player by the Daily Mail last month.
United were apparently alerted to his impressive form and sent scout David Friio to see him play and score twice for France’s Under 21 side against England.
The paper claimed United were planning a January bid for the player, who cost Celtic just £500,000 in compensation in June 2016.
MARTIAL HITS BRACE…NOW PSG WANT HIM
Man Utd striker Anthony Martial is wanted by French champions Paris St-Germain.
In an exclusive in The Sun, PSG want the 20-year-old, who starred with two goals in United’s 4-1 win over West Ham last night, after he has struggled to make an impact in his second season at Old Trafford.
Jose Mourinho has dropped the striker in recent weeks, and he has made just five Premier League starts, scoring once after bursting onto the scene last season after his £36million arrival from Monaco.
A ‘United source’ told The Sun: “It is well known PSG are very keen if the club does consider selling.
“He has been dropped recently against Feyenoord and West Ham and has generally struggled for form.”
Philippe Lamboley claimed Mourinho’s decision to make summer recruit Ibrahimovic the club’s new No 9 and switch Martial to No 11 was ‘disrespectful’.
“I’m not going to lie to you. Yes, it got to him. Yes, it surprised him. Yes, he was disappointed… for two days,” Lamboley told RMC Sport.
