Liverpool are poised to announce the arrival of a new midfielder next summer, while Arsenal have already lined-up Alexis Sanchez’s replacement, according to Saturday’s papers.
LIVERPOOL SET TO ANNOUNCE GORETZKA SIGNING
Liverpool are reportedly set to win the race to sign Leon Goretzka on a free transfer next summer.
German outlet Bild claims that Jurgen Klopp has pulled off another transfer coup just days after beating runaway Premier League leaders Manchester City to Virgil van Dijk.
The Reds set a new world record when they agreed to pay £75million for the Southampton defender, but Schalke playmaker Goretzka is set to cost nothing next summer.
The 22-year-old is regarded as one of the Bundesliga’s brightest young talents, although injury issues have hampered his development some what.
Both Arsenal and Tottenham have previously been linked with the player, but reports suggest that an announcement on Goretzka’s Anfield switch will be made soon.
It means Klopp’s men will have two new midfielders arriving next summer, with the highly-rated Naby Keita already snapped up from RB Leipzig.
Goretzka would also be the second Schalke player to leave for Anfield on a free transfer in recent years after Joel Matip’s switch 18 months ago.
