Manchester United want Danny Rose, Chelsea could move for Antoine Griezmann, while Manchester City are favourites to sign John Stones, according to the newspapers.
MAN UTD TARGET DANNY ROSE
Manchester United have identified Tottenham left-back Danny Rose as an ideal stop-gap signing to cover for Luke Shaw, according to the Sunday People.
United have had scouts present at Spurs’ last four games, the newspaper claims, with Shaw a long-term absentee, Ashley Young likely to be out until the end of March and Marcos Rojo recovering from shoulder surgery.
Rose started on the bench in two of those games, with Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has preferring Ben Davies, and that has apparently encouraged United to believe they could land the former England Under-21 international.
However, Mauricio Pochettino is said to be unwilling to sell any more players in January after letting Andros Townsend join Newcastle United. Furthermore, Spurs do not want to help a club competing with them for a Champions League place.
The Daily Star Sunday, meanwhile, also says United have had scouts at the last four Spurs games and are ‘eyeing their full-backs’. The newspaper doesn’t state which ones specifically but does say the Red Devils are building dossiers on Harry Kane and Dele Alli.
CHELSEA COULD MOVE FOR GRIEZMANN
Chelsea will move for £60million-rated Antoine Griezmann in the summer if Eden Hazard pushes to join either Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain.
Griezmann has previously been deemed off-limits by Atletico Madrid, the Mail on Sunday says, but the Spanish club could allow the France forward to leave this summer to generate funds for a squad rebuild ahead of a possible two-window transfer ban.
PSG are also interested in the 24-year-old, but the French club and Real Madrid are both monitoring Hazard’s future at Stamford Bridge too.
Should the Belgium playmaker be allowed to leave, it is said to be Griezmann that Chelsea will look to replace him with.
MAN CITY MAY BEAT CHELSEA TO STONES
Manchester City are emerging as the favourites ahead of Chelsea to sign Everton defender John Stones this summer, according to the Sunday Mirror and Daily Star Sunday.
Stones was the subject of several offers from Chelsea in the summer, but while the Londoners retain an interest in the 21-year-old, it is not as keen as it was when Jose Mourinho was in charge, the Sunday Mirror says.
The Londoners are almost extremely unlikely to be able to offer Stones Champions League football, with Everton officials now expecting City to lead the chase to sign a player that apparently wants to stay in the Premier League rather than move abroad.
